Industry Minister Joshi calls for int’l community’s participation in Investment Meet

investment-board-nepalKathmandu / Dec 20: Industry Minister Nabindra Raj Joshi has called on foreign investors to enthusiastically participate in the Nepal Investment Conference that the government is hosting in coming March. The Conference has been scheduled for March 2-3, 2017.

During an interaction with ambassadors from various countries and chiefs of diplomatic missions here today at the Ministry, Minister Joshi urged the international community to confidently invest in Nepal as there is no political and policy hurdles for investment here in the aftermath of the promulgation of the constitution.

Nepal’s political parties are crystal clear that ‘economic prosperity’ should be the major focus after the promulgation of the constitution, he said, adding that the government is committed to legally ensuring security of their investment. Some acts towards that end have been approved while some are in the process of endorsement by the House. The industry registration process has been simplified, he added.

“Investors from home and abroad shall be treated equally,” the Industry Minister informed foreign representatives, adding the government has prioritised the establishment of production-oriented industries so as to create more and more employment opportunity.

Representatives from the SAARC, the United States of America, Sweden, South Africa, Myanmar, New Zealand, Thailand, Finland and the Czech Republic took part in the interaction.

The ambassadors and representatives of foreign diplomatic missions said though an investment-friendly environment is being created in Nepal, it should bring a Labour Act soon as it helps attract foreign investment to the country. RSS
