PM Dahal directs for increasing capital expenditure

PrachandaKathmandu / Jan 2: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has directed the ministries to carry out activities targeting at least 80 per cent capital expenditure.

Addressing the 38th meeting of the National Development Problems Resolution Committee here Monday, PM Dahal said it was worrying that there was negligible amount of capital expenditure (only 5 percent) till the end of first quarter despite bringing budget before 45 days of fiscal change. “The activities under the national pride projects as Kathmandu-Nijgadh fast track, Budhigandaki hydro project, West Seti and Postal Highways are also not satisfactory. For these project, performance contract should be signed with the employees based their competence and provide reward and punishment based on the performance,” he added.

He also warned the ministers and secretaries that he would himself initiate monitoring of the activities of national pride projects. The ministers and secretaries were also urged to address the complaints of the technical and health employees.

The Prime Minister wanted to know about the homework made for recruiting more number of employees for the local and provinces.

During the meeting, the concerned ministers presented the problems they faced in the development activities under their ministries.

Vice-Chairman of the National Planning Commission, Dr Min Bahadur Shrestha made presentation on the review of the first quarter and the problems facing the projects. RSS
