Over 11,000 patients with cataract received treatment in past one year in Dang

eyeDang / Jan 3: More than 11,000 patients with cataract have undergone surgery at Rapti Eye Hospital in the past one year, the hospital administration said.

Out of the total 220,059 people suffering from different eye ailments having received treatment in the same period, 11,205 underwent cataract surgery, the hospital said.

So far, the hospital has provided free eye treatment to a total of 26,349 people suffering from various eye ailments by setting up eye treatment camps in the district.

In a bid to create awareness on eye health, the total 346 people ranging from local shamans, school teachers, mother’s groups and female health volunteers have been trained and deployed for the cause, said the hospital senior administrative officer Shamsher Thapa.

Likewise, local journalists have also received training on eye health as well, he added. RSS
