‘Air quality measurement station’ set up at Ratnapark

Air QualityKathmandu / March 14: An air quality measurement station has been set up at local Ratnapark with the joint initiatives of the Ministry of Population and Environment and International Center for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD).

The station is set up to easily know the quantity of dust particulate matters and smoke released from the burning of gas, diesel, petrol, firewood and sun-baked cow dung, the Ministry said.

Ministry Secretary Dr Bishwanath Oli inaugurated the station in the presence of ICIMOD Director General David Molden.

Such type of station has already been set up in Pulchowk, Dhulikhel, Sauraha and Lumbini with the technical assistance of ICIMOD.

Such station was established at the US Embassy in Maharajgunj today itself. On the occasion, US Ambassador to Nepal Alaina Teplitz said the US was joining hands with Nepal in the environment protection efforts and such cooperation would continue in the future, too. RSS
