Visiting UN Under-Secretary-General Acharya meets NPC vice Chair

Gyan Chandra AcharyaKathmandu / March 19: The United Nations Under-Secretary-General Gyan Chandra Acharya, who is on a Nepal visit, today called on Vice Chairperson of the National Planning Commission (NPC) Dr Min Bahadur Shrestha at the Commission’s Secretariat.

During the meeting, Dr Shrestha said Nepal has potentiality to pursue development at a fast pace if information technology is properly used for good governance and development by developing essential infrastructure in transportation.

He also said Nepal is gradually obtaining achievements in power development and the progress could be enough in the next few years. “We have started many power projects. The progress is good. We will get enough of power in the next few years,” he said.

In return, UN Under-Secretary-General Acharya stressed the need for least developed country like Nepal to increase its efficiency in power and physical infrastructures.

He also underscored the need for highlighting the story of successes achieved by Nepal despite long political instability to the international level. RSS
