Health insurance programme launched in Bhaktapur

government logoBhaktapur / Jun 20: Health Insurance Programme under the social health security has started in Bhaktapur.

A family of five members signing up for the programme by paying Rs 2, 500 in advance annually can claim up to Rs 50,000 worth of medical treatment per year, said executive director of the Social Health Security Development Committee Gunaraj Lohani.

In case of a family with more than five members, each family member, under the programme, is required to pay an annual fee of Rs 425 and medical service worth Rs 10,000 each person will be added accordingly as per the programme. The free medicines provided to patients by Nepal Government is not included in this provision, however, said Lohani.

Six health institutions in Bhaktapur are providing the insurance facility, including Bhaktapur Hospital, Public Health Service Center, Nepal Korea Friendship Hospital, Changunarayan Primary Health Centre and Dadhikot Primary Health Center.

Started from Kailali, Baglung and Ilam, the programme has also been launched in Chitwan, Jumla and Tanahun.

Preparations are underway to start the programme in Jajarkot, Makawanpur and Gorkha from the month of Asadh. RSS
