Vote counting underway in 168 local units: EC

Election CommissionKathmandu / Jun 29: Election Commission (EC) has said that vote counting has started in 168 local units on Thursday.

Among the 334 local units where elections were conducted on Wednesday, vote counting has started in 168 local units till 9:30 am today, read a statement issued by assistant secretary and spokesperson Surya Prasad Sharma on Thursday.

According to the EC, of the 137 local units in Province 1, vote counting has started in 108 local units.

Out of 109 local units in Province 5, vote counting has started in 34 local units while voting counting has started in 26 local units of Province 7. There are 88 local units in Province 7.

Meanwhile, Voter turnout in the second phase local election held for 334 local levels in Provinces 1, 5 and 7 on Wednesday was 73.69 per cent, according to the EC.
