Priority to constitution implementation-Speaker Mahara
Kathmandu / March 10: Newly elected Speaker of the House of Representatives Krishna Bahadur Mahara has said that he would assume his duties with a major focus on implementation of the Constitution drafted by the people.
In a brief conversation with journalists after being unanimously elected to the post of Speaker at the HoR meeting today, he expressed the commitment to work in the formulation of essential laws. “All the political parties have given me important responsibility, and now my priority will be to draft the necessary laws”, he said.
Mahara also said that he would work considering the fact that the parliament is a source of people’s faith and a way to resolve all problems.
Upon election, Mahara was congratulated by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Main opposition leader Sher Bahadur Deuba, CPN-MC Chair Puspa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and MPs and MP Secretariat.
Meanwhile, newly elected Speaker is scheduled to take the oath of office and secrecy from President Bidya Devi Bhandari amid a function held at 11:00 am at the Rastrapati Bhawan, Sheetal Niwas on Sunday, according to personal secretary of the President, Bhesh Raj Adhikari.
