NA Vice Chair, HoR Deputy Speaker sworn-in; Dahal elected NA Vice-chair
Kathmandu / Mar 18: Deputy Speaker of House of Representatives, Dr Shibamaya Tumbahamphe, and Vice Chair of the National Assembly, Shashikala Dahal, has been administered the oath of office and secrecy Sunday.
Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara administered the oath to the deputy speaker of the lower house while the NA (upper house)’s vice chair took the oath before chair Ganesh Prasad Timilsina in the presence of President Bidya Devi Bhandari amidst a programme at the Office of President, Shital Niwas.
Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, acting Chief Justice Deepak Raj Joshi, ministers, chiefs of constitutional bodies, government senior officials and chiefs of security bodies were also present on the occasion.
Dahal elected NA Vice-chair
CPN (MC)’s Shashikala Dahal has been elected the Vice-chair of the National Assembly.
In the election to the post held at the meeting of the NA today, Dahal secured 45 votes while her contender NC’s Brinda Devi Ale (Rana) received only 11 votes. Following the election and the counting, NA Chair Ganesh Prasad Timalsena announced the election of Dahal to the post.
Of the total 59 members in the upper house of the parliament, 56 members were present in today’s meeting. Earlier, Ganesh Prasad Timalsena was unanimously elected the Chair of the NA on March 14.
The National Assembly will meet next at 1:00 pm on coming March 27. RSS
