UML and MC decide to finalize party unification on Thursday

Communist Party FlagKathmandu / May 16: Ending long speculation about merger of two largest left parties, CPN-UML and CPN (Maoist center) have decided to finalize the merger deal on Thursday. As per the agreement, CPN-UML and CPN Maoist (Centre) will have 55 and 45 per cent representation respectively in the unified party’s central committee consisting of 441 members.

According to an agreement between the two parties, UML and MC will have 245 and 200 seats respectively in the central committee. UML will keep. At standing committee, UML will have 25 members while MC will have 18. In total, the standing committee will consist of 43 members.

Both parties on Wednesday agreed with the ‘Sun’ as election symbol. The guiding principle of the unified party will be Socialism oriented Public multiparty people’s democracy.

The parties will announce their unification tomorrow on the occasion of Madan Aashrit Memorial Day at Balkhu.

CPN-UML’s standing committee meeting on Wednesday has decided to endorse the consensus forged by Prime Minister and Chairman KP Sharma Oli and CPN-Maoist Centre Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal, over the unification of two parties.
