Home stay programme in freed Kamaiya settlement

Home StayKanchanpur / Nov 13: Bijayaas Home Stay has been brought into operation at the settlement of freed Kamaiyas (previously bonded labourers) in Krishnapur Municipality-2.

The home stay programme, technically and financially assisted by Janaheet Mahakali Community Forest Users Committee and Hariyo Ban Programme of Care Nepal, was launched to improve the economic condition of the disadvantaged freed Kamaiya families.

As part of the programme, five well-equipped houses have been constructed to provide living facilities for internal and external tourists.

Every house has a separate toilet with each house accommodating two to four persons.

Proper living facilities along with special Tharu food and hospitality have attracted increasing flow of tourists, said Bispati Chaudhary, Treasurer, Home Stay Management Committee.

The food at the home stay is priced between the range of Rs 130 to Rs 300 which has to be paid by a tourist staying there. Cultural programmes are also regularly conducted to provide entertainment to tourists. RSS
