Democracy Day to be marked in a grand manner
Kathmandu / Feb 17: The 69th Democracy Day is being marked across the country in a grand manner on Tuesday.
The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology has called all its subordinates and private media to highly prioritize the dissemination of news bulletins and conduct talk shows relating to democracy on the Day is celebrated for three days from Monday.
The meeting of the subcommittee on the publicity of the Democracy Day held under the chairmanship of Ministry Secretary Mahendra Man Gurung today decided that arrangement would be made for the live broadcasting of the Democracy Day program at Nepal Army pavilion via Nepal Television and Radio Nepal. Other televisions could also hook the program from Nepal Television.
The National News Agency (RSS) is assigned to disseminate news and features on Democracy Day while Radio Nepal and Nepal Television to hold talk programmes. Similarly, the Gorkhapatra daily will publish special edition articles and features on the importance of democracy. The telecommunications providing companies will relay the message on Democracy Day, the meeting decided.
The Democracy Day celebration main committee was formed under the Chairmanship of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli while Minister for Communications and Information Technology Gokul Prasad Baskota was the coordinator of the publicity committee.
Ministry Secretary Gurung urged all to mark the Democracy Day in a grand manner.
The meeting was attended by RSS Executive Chairman Harihar Adhikari ‘Shyamal’, Nepal Television’s Executive Chairman Dr Mahedra Bista, Executive Chairman of Gorkhapatra Corporation Krishna Murari Bhandari, among others. RSS
