The country is safer, Home Minister says

Biratnagar / Apr 25: The government claimed that it has been able to improve safety and security than the incumbent government. According to the Minister for Home Affairs, Ram Bahadur Thapa, the country was “safer” than the past after the Nepal Communist Party led the government.

Thapa credited the government’s “effective strategies and plans” that had led to reducing crimes than in the past – a claim that the Nepal Police agrees with reference to organized crimes.

While Thapa’s facts do not hold true for all crimes, it, however, is the case with organized crimes.

“We’ve been able to reduce organized crimes by almost 50 per cent,” Uttam Subedi, spokesperson of Nepal Police said. “However, social crimes are on the rise. It is for this reason we’re introducing community police activities,” he added. The Nepal Police has launched the Community-Police Partnership program with 751 local levels across the nation to control crime.

At Biratnagar, Thapa said that the government was working to bring armed groups, including Chand led outfit, into mainstream politics to strengthen security.
