Kailali storm victim families to get Rs 150,000

Kailali / June 9: The Sudurpaschim State government has decided to provide Rs 150,000 each to the families of those killed in storm that occurred on Thursday night.

The meeting of the Chief Minister and Council of the Minister held on Sunday decided to provide Rs 20,000 each to those whose houses suffered complete damage and Rs 10,000 each to those whose houses were partially damaged in the incident, said Spokesperson of Sudurpaschim State government, and Minister for Internal Affairs and Law, Prakash Bahadur Shah.

The meeting also decided that the concerned Ministry would provide relief after developing criteria following a study about the damages on livestock and agriculture. Two persons were killed and 76 were injured in the storm in Kailali district. Assistant Chief District Officer of Kailali, Mohanraj Joshi, said as per the preliminary report 7,844 families were affected due to the storm in Kailali district. Of them, 2,216 houses suffered completed damages.

Power supply, obstructed after a large number of electric poles were uprooted by the storm, in Kailali including Dhangadhi has not been resumed yet. Publication and media houses in Kailali district have not been able to provide their services in lack of power supply. It will take few more days to resume power supply as more than 1,000 electric poles were uprooted by the storm in the district, according to the Nepal Electricity Authority, Dhangadhi. RSS
