CC camera installed at Mhaipi area

Kathmandu / August 10: A total of 33 CC cameras have been installed at the Mhaipi Temple area of Kathmandu metropolis-16.

Thirty-three major intersections fit the CC cameras at the cost of Rs 5 million provided by State 3 government. Kathmandu metropolis Mayor Bidya Sundar Shakya inaugurated the installation. On the occasion, Mayor Shakya said the installation of CC cameras would help curb crimes in the Kathmandu Valley. “In order to ensure safe metropolis, the Kathmandu metropolis has provided the financial assistance of Rs 50 million to Nepal Police through the community-police partnership programme,” he informed.

He further said as ward no 16 was the biggest one in the metropolis, special priority was given to it while allocating budget. For the management of the Mhaipi area, the Kathmandu metropolis had allocated more than Rs 10 million in the past as well.

State 3 Assembly Member, Basanta Manandhar, viewed that protection and management of Mhaipi area housing historical and cultural heritages was facing more challenges. Therefore, special attention was needed to it, he added.

Chief of Lainchaur Police, Deputy Superintendent of Nepal Police Santosh Singh Rathaur hoped that installation of modern technology at interactions would help curb crime rate. “CC camera is a reliable medium to track the movement of anyone involved in crime. The monitoring of the CC camera would be conducted by Lainchaur Office of Nepal Police,” he added. RSS
