Let’s not take side in matters relating to constitution implementation: PM Oli

Kathmandu / Sept 20: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that nobody should take sides in matters relating to the implementation of the constitution.

Addressing the special ceremony organized at Tundikhel in Kathmandu to mark the fourth anniversary of the constitution promulgation on Friday, PM Oli reiterated that any hurdles on its implementation would be cleared by making necessary amendments.

Highlighting the significance of the day, he underscored that the day is the symbol of unity being observed by a total of 761 governments. “Today is an emancipation day for them who had been suppressed for years as our constitution has duly addressed the issues of inclusiveness, equality and equity,” he added.

According to the prime minister, if any part or article hinders progressive change, it will be adjusted and changed accordingly.

During his address, PM Oli also spoke on the achievements made by the government throughout its reign of one year and a half.

“The country has achieved an economic growth rate of 7.1 percent in the last fiscal year, which is the highest in the decade. Not only this, the average growth rate of all sectors is between 5 and 9 percent. Provinces are achieving their economic growth in between 6 to 9 percent. Therefore, we are heading toward proportionate development,” he added.

Prime Minister Oli, who spent most of the time talking about the achievements made by his government since he took the helm of the government, also committed to realizing the people’s expectations into reality as he is leading the campaign of fulfilling the public dream of prosperity.

“I urge you to be patient enough since the prevailing mess for centuries can’t be fixed in a couple of years,” said prime minister adding, “However, I am confident that our country can easily march toward prosperity as we posses unexploited natural resources, favorable climate, political stability and more importantly, the strong government that you have elected.”

Indicating the possibility of rapid growth as Nepal has the highest youth population in the whole history, he hoped that more young people would take innovative steps and help the government in achieving its dream of “Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali”. “Having said that, I am equally worried about those youths who are wasting their time on the social media,” argued PM Oli.

“Our democracy is capable enough to accommodate all sections of society including those who don’t like the present system. So, I also urge them who have taken the wrong track not to delay to join the mainstream,” the prime minister said. He urged the people from all walks of life not to oppose when it comes to implementing the constitution.
