“Government committed to ensuring easy accessibility to Geographical Information”
Kavrepalanchowk / Dec 10: Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation, Padma Kumari Aryal, has assured the issue of unsystematic settlement would get a sustainable management.
Inaugurating a two-day international symposium on ‘capacity enhancement; academic research and expansion’ organised by the Land Management Training Center, Dhulikhel here today, the Minister shared the government was working to find a long-term management to the unsystematic settlement issue.
“The Ministry is on the process of modernising service delivery mechanism by maintaining good governance in the area of land administration. The government is committed to ensuring easy accessibility to geographical information required for development.”
She took time to say that use of new technology, new approach and research in mapping and land management would help materialise the slogan – ‘prosperous Nepal, happy Nepali’.
Capacity enhancement and further cooperation with domestic and foreign universities is necessary for land management, according to the Minister for Land Management who was also of the view of applying latest technology in mapping and technology.
Kathmandu University vice chancellor Prof Dr Ramkantha Makaju Shrestha said plan, planning, resources and vision were necessary to achieve the goal in any area.
Dhulikhel municipality mayor Ashok Byanju Shrestha underlined the need of separate approach for scientific management of land in rural and urban areas.
Some 100 participants who include TU teachers, land experts, students and employees from 15 countries including the Netherlands, Turkey, China, India, Afghanistan and Mongolia are taking part in the event, according to Center chief Ganesh Prasad Bhatta.
Presentation and sharing of experiences on several issues such as the development ‘model’ as per the sustainable development goal, technology development in systematic urbanization and the use of technology in land management will take place during the event. RSS
