Govt recommends House session on March 7

Kathmandu / Feb 26: The government has decided to recommend President Bidya Devi Bhandari to summon the House session from March 7.

A cabinet meeting held at the prime minister’s official residence in Baluwatar on Friday evening made a decision to this effect.

The government’s decision comes four days after the apex court overturned the decision of Prime Minister K P Oli to dissolve the parliament and directed the government to summon the House session within the next 13 days.

According to Law Minister Shiva Maya Tumbahamphe, the government will now ask President Bhandari to summon the house session of the federal parliament from March 7. President Bhandari is expected to summon the House session as per the recommendation made by the cabinet on Sunday.

The new House session is likely to pick a new prime minister of the country as the rival faction within the ruling NCP plans to register a vote of a no-confidence motion against PM Oli to oust him from power. The Dahal-Nepal faction within the NCP has already started soliciting the support of the Nepali Congress and Janata Samajbadi Party to form a coalition government.
