MoHP reports 176 new cases of COVID-19

Kathmandu / Apr. 4: The Ministry of Health and Population on Sunday confirmed 176 new cases of COVID-19, taking the nation’s novel coronavirus tally to 277,944.

“In 3,456 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests done in the last 24 hours, 176 persons were found infected with SARS-CoV-2,” informed Dr. Gautam, spokesperson at the Ministry of Health and Population in the regular press briefing.

Of the new infections, 99 were reported in the Kathmandu Valley including four in Bhaktapur, eight in Lalitpur and 87 in Kathmandu.

Currently, there are 1,672 active cases of COVID-19 across the nation of which, 253 are receiving treatment in various institutional isolations and 1,419 are placed in home isolation. Likewise, 57 people mostly those who had returned from abroad, are placed in quarantine.

Of the active patients, 47 are admitted to the ICU and 11 are under treatment with a ventilator facility.

Meanwhile, 117 COVID-19 patients receiving treatment in institutional isolation or staying in home isolation recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours. Nepal has now recorded 273,240 cases of recovery and the recovery rate is at 98.3 per cent.
