367 new cases of COVID-19 and 270 recoveries in 24 hours

Kathmandu / Nov. 15: The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) on Monday confirmed 416 new cases of COVID-19. Of them, 367 were detected through Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests, and 49 were detected through antigen tests.

The nationwide COVID-19 tally through the RT-PCR method has reached 817,333 and that through antigen tests reached 95,136.

Of the total 12,402 tests conducted in the last 24 hours, 7,554 were Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) while 4,848 were antigen tests, informed the MoHP.

According to the MoHP, the Kathmandu Valley recorded 187 new infections over the same period. Of these, 126 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 18 in Bhaktapur, and 43 in Lalitpur. In the past 24 hours, 38 new infections were recorded in Province 1, seven in Province 2, 258 in Bagmati Province, 20 in Gandaki Province, 26 in Lumbini Province, and 18 in Sudurpaschim Province. Karnali Province did not report new cases of COVID-19 on the last day.

As per the MoHP’s data, only the Lalitpur district has more than 500 active cases and 11 other districts have more than 200 active cases each. Moreover, Manang, Dolpa, and Humla are the districts with zero active cases.

Similarly, the COVID-19 active caseload reached 7,311 on Sunday. Of the active cases, 532 patients are admitted to various health facilities while the remaining 6,779 are in home isolation.

As per the latest update, 225 COVID-19 patients are admitted to the Intensive Care Units (ICUs) while 66 are under treatment with ventilator support throughout the nation.

Meanwhile, 270 COVID-19 patients recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours. Nepal has now recorded 798,544 cases of recovery.

The nation also reported one COVID-19 related death on Monday, taking the death toll to 11,478. The recovery rate of the novel coronavirus has reached 97.7 per cent and the death rate is 1.4 per cent.
