Exercise your franchise fearlessly: President; CEC calls to make local poll a success

Kathmandu / May 12: President Bidya Devi Bhandari has urged all to exercise their franchise fearlessly.

Terming the local level election the greatest ceremony of democracy, the President, in her video message today, said that it was the responsibility of all to ensure the conduction of the local poll slated for tomorrow, May 13, in a free, fair and fearless environment.

President Bhandari noted that the periodic election gives a practical, formal expression to the truth that the people inhere sovereignty and they are the real source of sovereignty.

She also observed the rule by the elected people’s representatives to be the most beautiful aspect of democracy.

Support to make local poll a success: CEC Thapaliya

Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya has urged all for support to make the local level election a grand success.

I urge all for support to hold the local poll in a fair, free and credible as well as economic manner, said Chief Election Commissioner Thapaliya at a press meet today.

“Election is the means to meaningfully exercise democracy and it is the foundation of ruling system by the representatives,” he said.

He also appealed to all voters to use their conscience appropriately and added that security arrangement has been made for ensuring peaceful and safe voting environment.
