HoR endorses Nepal citizenship amendment bill with majority

Kathmandu / Aug. 18: The House of Representatives (HoR) has endorsed the Nepal Citizenship First Amendment Bill with a simple majority.

A total of 135 HoR members voted for the amendment bill whereas 60 voted against it when Speaker Sapkota presented the bill for voting. 195 lawmakers were present in the HoR meeting today.

Earlier, the amendment bill was returned by President BidyaDevi Bhandari to HoR when it was sent to her for authentication after its endorsement from both the Houses of the federal parliament.

The Bill has been endorsed as it is, without making any changes to the one sent earlier to the President for authentication.
