Ninth National Games Kick off, VP Pun inaugurates the sporting conclave

Kathmandu / Oct 14: Vice-President Nanda Bahadur Pun formally inaugurated the Ninth National Games this evening at the Pokhara Stadium in Pokhara.

Addressing the nation’s largest sporting event, VP Pun extended his best wishes for the successful completion of the Games.

“I am very excited to be present in the inaugural ceremony of the ninth national Games being organised in this beautiful city of Pokhara which is located at the lap of mountain Machhapuchchre, bank of lakes such as Fewa, Rupa and the Seti River,” said VP Pun in his while kicking the national games off.

I express a grand success of this biggest festival of the players and those who love sports being held in different places of the Gandaki Province till October 3, he said.

The Games will be played in 8 different districts of the Gandaki Province. There will be 36 competitive games and 2 exhibition games. In this event, 6,157 players are going to take part to compete for 404 gold medals.

In addition to it, sportsmen of 11 varying teams will be contesting for 409 Silver and 601 Bronze trophies. The 11 teams including 7 teams from each of the provinces, and four departmental teams-Tribhuvan Army Club team, Nepal Police Club team, the Armed Police Force Club team and the Non-Resident Nepali will vie for the medals.
