People throng Balgopaleshwor temple to receive Bhai Tika

Kathmandu / Oct 27: People who do not have siblings, or brothers and sisters who are unable to be together during Bhai Tika thronged the Balgopalesgwor Temple in Kathmandu to observe the occasion on Thursday.

During Bhai Tika, which is observed on the fifth day of Tihar also known as Yamapanchak, sisters wish their brothers long life, health and wealth with respect, faith and loyalty by putting Pancharangi or Saptarangi tika as per age-old traditions.

After sisters put tika on their brothers’ forehead, brothers also put tika on their sisters. It is widely believed that worshipping one’s sisters leads to good luck and prosperity.

The temple of Balgopaleshwar located in the middle of Ranipokhari was open for the public today for Bhai tika. Those who don’t have sisters and brothers go to this temple, perform worship and receive tika.
