PM inaugurates Pokhara Airport; bats for Nijgadh Airport

Pokhara / Jan 1: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ inaugurated the Pokhara Regional International Airport amidst a grand ceremony here today.

On the occasion, the Prime Minister unveiled a plaque marking the official inauguration of the airport.

The Prime Minister arrived in Pokhara this morning to attend the inauguration ceremony. He is accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Bishnu Poudel. (RSS)

We will start construction of Nijgadh Int’l Airport soon: PM Dahal

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that the construction of Nijgadh International Airport will begin soon. Inaugurating the Pokhara Regional International Airport (PRIA) here today, he mentioned that aerial connectivity is the most effective means of connectivity for a landlocked country like Nepal and said that the construction of the Nijgadh International Airport is necessary.

“As the country’s third international airport, the airport has started operating in Pokhara from today,” he said, “With the opening of this airport; Pokhara’s relationship with the international region has been established.” Prime Minister Dahal praised Shankarraj Pathak, the architect of PRIA.

Prime Minister Dahal also requested the Chinese government to facilitate the opening of border crossings with China and to assist in the construction of railway services and other projects. He mentioned that there is no doubt about the economic development of the entire nation along with Gandaki Province after the Pokhara airport is operational. “I became the Prime Minister after being elected from Gandaki Province, the people here have given me the opportunity to serve as the Prime Minister for a third time, I want to thank them for this,” he said.

Prime Minister Dahal said that the government under his leadership will work with the basic mantra of social justice, good governance and prosperity of the people. “Earlier, I played a leading role for the establishment of a democratic republic, now I will move the country forward by promoting economic development, prosperity and good governance,” he said.
