SC sentences life imprisonment to Chaudhary on Tikapur carnage

Kathmandu / May 16: The Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday upheld the verdict of Dipayal High Court on a case relating to Tikapur carnage which had handed down life imprisonment to Resham Chaudhary. Resham was doing his jail time.

Justices Dr Ananda Mohan Bhattarai and Nahakul Subedi gave such verdict convicting Chaudhary on the charge. Chaudhary had filed a petition at the SC seeking a review on the High Court’s decision.

After the hearing on the appeal, the SC gave such order today, stating that a clean chit on the case was unlikely.

Likewise, another opponent Laxman Tharu is handed down three years in imprisonment by reducing five years of jail time directed by the Dipayal High Court.

However, Ganga Ram Chaudhary and Sita Ram Chaudhary, who were jailed in the same case, have gotten a clean chit from today’s SC verdict. RSS
