Kathmandu Metropolis selected for ‘Swiss Tourism Award-2023’
Kathmandu / July 18: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has been selected as one of the recipients of the esteemed ‘Swiss Tourism Award-2023’. The award ceremony is scheduled to take place in Lugano, Switzerland, from November 3 to November 5.
The organizing committee, consisting of distinguished professionals in the tourism sector, has extended an official invitation to the metropolis to participate in the event. “The jury comprising scientific professionals in the tourism sector has chosen you for the award. We invite you to participate in this program to introduce the dimensional aspect of this region to the general public and to promote the uniqueness of tourism destinations,” the organizer said in the letter sent to the metropolis.
Having been an ongoing tradition for the past 15 years, this award program accepts applications from various local governments, including metropolitan and sub-metropolitan cities, and municipalities. Following a rigorous selection process, a limited number of outstanding applicants are nominated for the prestigious recognition.
The event provides an excellent platform for the promotion of destinations internationally, particularly in Switzerland and Italy. It also serves as a forum to discuss the significance of tourism and its impact on various professions within the honored city.
The destination promotion program will be attended by officials and representatives from the local level, alongside respected organizations. Mayor Balendra Shah will go to Switzerland to participate in the award program, according to the Mayor’s Secretariat.
