PM stresses implementing food system transformation programme

Kathmandu / Mar 18: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has directed to implement the programmes of food system transformation with priority.

In a high-level meeting of a review of food system commitment held at the office of the Prime Minister on Monday, the PM urged United Nations food security along with other development partner agencies to make food transformation programmes effective.

A progress review regarding the commitment that Nepal made in the international summit and dialogues was held in the meeting.

The PM said, “ Programmes of the working system should be brought to implementation” while urging United Nations food security along with other development partner agencies to mainstream programmes and planning related food transformation, according to the secretariat of the PM.

Saying that it is important to pay attention to uplift farmers by minimizing the effects that can occur to the food system because of climate change, the PM stressed moving towards prosperity by increasing production and productivity including strengthening competitive capacity building.

The PM said, “Social justice, good governance and prosperity is our top priority. I direct to implement plans, programmes, policy, and strategies related to food system transformation in this direction.”
