Kathmandu / April 01: Bagmati Chief Minister Shalikram Jammakattel on Monday secured the confidence of the provincial assembly for the third time.

A total of 56 provincial assembly members stood in support of the trust vote sought by the chief minister.

A total of 37 votes were cast against the motion while 15 members stayed neutral.

Apart from the CPN (Maoist Centre), CPN-UML, CPN (Unified Socialist), and Hamro Nepali Party voted in favour of the motion during the trust vote.

He was appointed as the chief minister by province head Yadav Chandra Sharma on January 10, 2023 after he laid claim to the post with the support of 70 members of the 110-seat provincial assembly.

Jammakattel of Maoist Centre had to go for the floor test twice within just over two months of his appointment due to changes in the ruling coalition.

He had to seek a vote of confidence after the Nepali Congress recalled its ministers and withdrew support to the provincial government following changes in the ruling coalition at the centre a month ago.
