Court extends Lamichhane’s custody by five days; Medical entrepreneur Prasai arrested again
Pokhara / Dec. 12: The Kaski District Court has granted police permission to keep Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) chair Rabi Lamichhane in custody for five more days to continue investigations into charges of cooperative fraud, organised crime, and money laundering.
The decision was made on Thursday by Judge Chandrakanta Paudel’s bench, which also extended the remand for former DIG Chhabilal Joshi, Leela Pachhai, Ram Bahadur Khanal, and Krishna Bahadur Gurung, who are facing similar charges, according to court information officer Suraj Adhikari.
Lamichhane has already been questioned in Pokhara, Rupandehi, Kathmandu, Chitwan, and Parsa as part of the ongoing investigation. The RSP chair, who was arrested from the party headquarters in Kathmandu on October 18, is currently held at the District Police Office in Kaski.
Medical entrepreneur Prasai arrested again on organized crime charges
Meanwhile, medical entrepreneur Durga Prasai, who was recently released by the Kathmandu District Court on a bail of Rs 40,000 after being cleared of charges related to criminal benefits, was re-arrested from the court premises.
Following his release on Thursday, Prasai was arrested again on new charges of organized crime. The re-arrest occurred shortly after the court’s decision, as police moved to round him up under the new charges.
