Trichandra College and Ghantaghar to be reconstructed

Kathmandu / Sept. 11: The country’s oldest campus, Trichandra College, and its clock tower (Ghanta Ghar) are set to be reconstructed while maintaining their original style to reflect their historical significance. Finance Minister Janardan Sharma has announced plans to renovate Trichandra College and Ghantaghar through the revised budget for fiscal year 2021/22 under the bill to replace the financial ordinances presented in parliament on Friday.

According to the ordinance, universities will be developed as research centers within infrastructural development. It has been said that the Narayanhiti Durbar Museum will be developed as a government museum by keeping historical statues reflecting the entire period of the country since ‘Ramapithecus’. “The construction of a historical government museum will be started on the premises of Narayanhiti Durbar Museum covering the entire period of the country from the Ramapithecus era,” the ordinance said.

Similarly, a museum will be constructed covering the history of martyrs from Yogamaya to the present that were involved in various historical people’s movements of Nepal including the Madhesh movement. “The necessary budget has been allocated to start the construction of the museum,” the ordinance states. “A religious museum will be established that reflects Nepal’s religions, culture and traditions and promotes religious tourism as well.”
