43,000 tons of chemical fertilizers in stock: MoALD
Kathmandu / Dec 4: The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development (MoALD) on Sunday said that there are a total of 42,983 tons of chemical fertilizers in stock in the state-owned organizations.
Unveiling a report, the MoALD has stated that the Agriculture Inputs Company Limited has a stock of 35,449 tons of fertilizer while the Salt Trading Corporation has 7,534 tons. Of the amount, 21,763 tons are urea, 19,286 tons are di-ammonium phosphate (DAP) and remaining 1,932 tons are potassium.
The MoALD, in an attempt to spare the blushes, claimed that the quantity of the agricultural inputs is adequate for crop plantations for this season. Almost every year, farmers face insufficient supply of fertilizers, may it be due to mismanagement of the government bodies or the delay in imports.
The MoALD report shows that a total of 86,246 tons of chemical fertilizers were sold to the farmers during mid-July and mid-November.
