Complete projects in time or face action: DPM Shrestha
Keshav Chandra Mahara / Dipayal, Feb 17: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha has focused on expediting completion of projects that are delayed and lagging behind the deadline.
The DPM warned of stringent action against those contractors that have hoarded the projects delaying completion and incurring losses for the state and hassle to the people.
Inaugurating Doti Fair organized by the Doti Chamber of Commerce, DPM Shrestha said, “The government won’t stand idle as onlooker even when it sees that contractors have been delaying project completion. We will not excuse them.”
However, he added that the government will extend period only when there is strong basis that the construction will be expedited to complete in the extended deadline.
“I have already directed the contractors to complete works as agreed in time or else we will cancel the agreement and move the project in a new way. We cannot be onlookers when contractors leave projects in limbo.”
The DPM was responding to the demands of the locals to expedite completion of delayed projects, including Dhangadhi-Khutiya-Dipayal fast tract, underway in the district.
Meanwhile, RSS adds that, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Physical Planning and Infrastructure Narayan Kaji Shrestha has said national consensus is imperative for the president.
At a press meet organized in Surkhet today, DPM Shrestha viewed as it was in the prime minister’s election, consensus among all political parties is imperative for the president’s election too. He however said it was not intended to change the present coalition.
The president election is being held on March 11. The national consensus is required for it, DPM Shrestha added. “We’re clear that untoward situation should not emerge because of us. Ninety nine percent of lawmakers voted for the present government in the House of Representatives. It was a historic moment that most of the parties voted for present PM,” he added.
According to him, that very support the PM got during floor test created atmosphere for the national consensus. Holding president’s election by incorporating all parties’ aspiration is the present need, he said, adding that efforts were on to elect the president based on national consensus to be forged by all political parties.
