Sigdel takes over Nepali Army command from today

Kathmandu / Sept 9: Army Chief Ashok Raj Sigdel has officially taken over the command of the Nepali Army starting from Monday.

President Ram Chandra Paudel, the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Nepali Army, presented him with the insignia at 10AM today. Following that, Sigdel took over the duties at the Nepal Army Headquarter in Bhadrakali.

Sigdel is the 45th Commander-in-Chief of the Nepali Army.

Following the retirement of outgoing Chief of Army Staff Prabhu Ram Sharma, Sigdel got the opportunity to take over the command of the Nepali Army. President Paudel appointed Sigdel as the Chief of Army Staff on August 28, with the appointment effective from September 9.

Sharma, who has spent four decades in the Nepali Army, has been on leave since August 8. The army headquarter organized a program on Monday evening to congratulate the new army chief and bid farewell to the outgoing CoAS.
