Dr. Khatiwada appointed PM’s special economic advisor; Nepal to open for trekking, mountaineering from Oct 17

Kathmandu / Sept. 15: The Cabinet meeting held Monday decided to appoint Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Kumar Gyawali as the spokesperson of the government while Dr. Yubaraj Khatiwada erstwhile Finance Minister, has been appointed as the special economic advisor to the Prime Minister, said newly appointed government spokesperson Gyawali at a press briefing today.

Dr. Khatiwada would be provided perks and pays equal to that of a Cabinet minister, according to Gyawali.

The meeting of the Council of Ministers also decided to allow operation of domestic flight and long-route public bus services from September 17.

Govt decides to resume domestic air services from Thursday

The government has decided to resume the domestic air services starting Thursday, according to Minister for Foreign Affairs and government spokesperson Pradeep Gyawalil.

A Cabinet meeting on Monday decided to allow the operation of domestic flights that remained shut for nearly six months. The airlines operators must abide by the health protocols set by the government as they resume their service from September 17, said Gyawali during a press conference on Tuesday.

The airlines are allowed to carry only 50 percent passengers of their total capacity while adopting all safety precautions to avoid possible spread of COVID-19.

Nepal to open for trekking, mountaineering on Oct 17

Nepal is all set to open for touristic activities such as trekking an mountaineering from October 17.

The government made this decision along with other measures as steps towards further easing the ongoing pandemic-restrictions. A meeting of the cabinet held Monday took a decision to this effect, the newly appointed government spokesperson, Minister Pradeep Gyawali informed.

Nepalis and foreigners will be allowed to go for trekking and mountaineering which are, at the moment, suspended owing to the fear of further spread of the steadily increasing coronavirus infections in the country.

Likewise, it has been decided that hotels and restaurants that have their operations suspended at the moment would be allowed to resume services from September 17.
